Description :
Granular Activated Carbon (GAC/UDF) Filter | Chlorine & Taste Removal for Water Purifiers

BlueSpot Water Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) filter. Essential for removing chlorine, bad taste, and odor from drinking water. Fits Slimline and Big Blue systems.

Features :The Granular Activated Carbon (GAC), often referred to as a UDF filter, is a crucial stage in any multi-stage water purification system. It is crafted from raw organic materials (like coconut shells or coal) that are intensely heated to create a massive surface area—this is why they're often called "charcoal" filters

The primary function of this highly porous carbon is adsorption, which effectively removes organic compounds and extracts free chlorine from the water

What does it do:

The GAC filter is specifically engineered to treat water that has already had sediment removed, making it perfect for the following:

  • Removes Chlorine: Extracts residual free chlorine from municipal water supplies.

  • Reduces Taste and Odor: Eliminates the chemical smell and unpleasant taste caused by chlorine and volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

  • Removes Organic Contaminants: Adsorbs various organic compounds, making the water suitable for drinking, cooking, and manufacturing processes.

  • High-Quality Filtration: Provides excellent water polishing, resulting in cleaner, crisper, and better-tasting water for residential, commercial, and industrial settings.

Maintenance:

GAC cartridges are not reusable or washable. Attempting to clean them with bleach or any other chemical will damage the carbon media and render the filter ineffective.

  • Installation: The GAC filter is typically installed after a sediment pre-filter (like PP or String Wound) to ensure the carbon media is not prematurely clogged by large particles

  • Replacement Interval: Activated Carbon cartridges must be replaced every 6 to 12 months or after the rated gallon capacity has been filtered. Replace immediately if you notice a return of bad taste or chlorine odor in your water.
