Description

The UF 4040 Ultrafiltration Membrane is the industry standard for high-volume commercial and industrial water treatment. Measuring 4 inches in diameter and 40 inches in length, this element provides a massive surface area for the absolute removal of microscopic contaminants. Whether used as a standalone purifier for river water or as a critical pre-treatment stage to protect expensive Reverse Osmosis (RO) membranes from fouling, the UF 4040 delivers crystal-clear water with zero mineral loss.

Features

  • Standard 4040 Dimensions: Fits all universal 4x40 membrane pressure vessels (Stainless Steel or FRP).

  • 0.01 – 0.1 Micron Precision: A nominal pore size designed for the absolute removal of silt, colloids, and pathogens.

  • Low Energy Consumption: Operates at significantly lower pressures (30–90 PSI) than RO, reducing electricity and pump costs.

  • High Flow Capacity: Capable of producing 1,000 to 4,000 Litres Per Hour (LPH) depending on water quality and pressure.

  • Hollow Fiber Technology: Uses durable PVDF or PES fibers that offer excellent chemical resistance and mechanical strength.

  • Waste-Free Operation: Unlike RO, UF filtration typically has a 100% recovery rate during production (waste only occurs during flushing/cleaning).

What Does It Do?

  • Pathogen Removal: Provides a physical barrier that removes 99.99% of bacteria and viruses, ensuring microbiologically safe water.

  • Turbidity Reduction: Eliminates "cloudiness" by filtering out suspended solids and organic molecules, resulting in water with <0.1 NTU clarity.

  • Mineral Preservation: Allows dissolved salts and essential minerals to pass through, keeping the water's natural TDS and health profile intact.

  • RO Protection: Dramatically increases the lifespan of downstream RO membranes by removing particles that cause irreversible fouling.

Maintenance & Lifespan

Industrial membranes require proactive care to maintain their high-flow performance:

  • Back-Flushing: Regular automated reversal of flow dislodges particles from the fiber surface. This is vital for maintaining flux.

  • Chemical Cleaning (CIP): Periodically perform "Clean-In-Place" using alkaline or acid solutions to remove bio-fouling or scale.

  • Lifespan: With a robust maintenance and pre-filtration regimen, these membranes typically last 2 to 3 years.

  • Pre-Filtration: Always use a 5-micron sediment filter upstream to prevent large particles from damaging the hollow fibers.
