Description :

pH Fix Calcite is a premium, crushed and screened Calcium Carbonate () filter media specifically designed to inexpensively and effectively neutralise acidic or low pH water to a neutral, less corrosive effluent. As the gold standard for pH correction media, pH Fix slowly dissolves upon contact with acidic water, raising the pH to reach a non-corrosive equilibrium. A key feature is its self-limiting property, which ensures it corrects the pH only enough to prevent corrosion, avoiding over-correction under normal conditions.

Features :

  • Neutralises Acidic Water: Raises water pH from 5.0 to 7.0 to a neutral equilibrium.

  • Corrosion Control: Significantly reduces the potential leaching of copper, lead, and other metals, protecting your plumbing system.

  • Self-Limiting: Does not overcorrect the pH, ensuring water stability.

  • Replenishable Media: Requires periodic topping up as the media is naturally depleted.

  • High Purity: Composed of Calcium Carbonate (), min.

  • FDA Approved: Safe for use in potable drinking water applications.

  • Slow Reaction: Slower reacting for more controlled pH correction.

  • Inexpensive and naturally occurring material.

What does it do:

pH Fix Calcite acts as a buffer to stabilize the pH of low-acidic water sources. By slowly dissolving the calcium carbonate, it raises the water's pH, thereby eliminating the corrosive effects of acid water. This not only prevents green/blue staining from copper leaching but also protects your geysers, fittings, and pipes from costly long-term damage. Periodic backwashing of the media bed prevents caking and maintains optimal service flow rates.

  • Important Note on Hardness: As pH Fix neutralizes the water, it increases hardness due to the added calcium carbonate. A water softener is recommended after its use. Where the salt content is high, an antiscalant (scale inhibitor) will be an ideal alternative for water.

Specifications:

Maintenance:

The pH Fix Calcite Media naturally depletes over time as it dissolves to correct the water pH.

  • Replenishment: The media bed will have to be periodically replenished (topped up) as the pH Fix gets depleted.

  • Backwashing: Periodic backwashing is required to prevent packing/caking, reclassify the media bed, and ensure better service rates and optimal performance.

  • Schedule: Maintenance frequency depends heavily on the water pH, chemistry, and flow rate, and should be calculated by your water treatment specialist.
