What does it do:

Manganese Greensand is the most effective filter media used to chemically Remove Iron and Manganese from water, preventing the orange/brown rust staining and black scaling they cause. It also eliminates the unpleasant sulphur or rotten egg odour caused by hydrogen sulfide.

Maintenance:

When the oxidizing capacity of the Manganese Greensand is exhausted, the bed must be regenerated. Regeneration is performed with a weak potassium permanganate (${\text{KMnO}}^4$) solution (approx. 121? to 2 ounces per cubic foot of media).

• Schedule: Replace the media every 3 Years or as calculated by your water treatment specialist.

• Note: Vigorously backwash and regenerate the bed before its oxidation capacity is totally exhausted. Operating the bed after exhaustion will reduce its service life and may cause staining.
